Salon and Boutique Remodel {Studio 319}

Over the last few weeks, I have been knee deep in helping my friend Sharon with the remodel of her salon and boutique. If she wasn't such a good friend, I might have ran the other direction about two days into the remodel! The Studio 319 remodel was a floor-to-ceiling total revamp that included new lighting, new paint colors, new flooring, new walls and my favorite part, large furniture revamps. Even though we are not quite done with the finishing touches, I wanted to share a sneak peak with you of things so far.

The remodel was a massive undertaking that had to be carried out in one week! It really is amazing that all of the major components came together in that short amount of time. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing more pictures and details of the remodel and projects that we did. To start things off, below are some pictures of how things look when we got started:

Sharon can hardly contain her excitement as things got started:

From early on in the planning stage, Sharon's ultimate goal with the remodel was to create a softer and more soothing environment for her clients and staff. Sharon felt that the lighting, paint colors and layout needed to be tweaked and enhanced to achieve a more soothing experience. I couldn’t agree more. Even though the salon was gorgeous to begin with, the colors were more of a gold tone, black and reds. Updating colors with beautiful neutral tones, softening furniture pieces and tweaking the layout and lighting for better functionality are all great ideas in collectively creating the softer environment that Sharon ultimately wanted for her salon.

As we started to firm up the plan and make final decisions, we decided to lighten everything up with a neutral color palette, all with undertones of taupe. Even though we included two blue/green colors, a taupe/green color was the undertone. We wanted to keep within the same color tone for everything that we did (including furniture revamps) for less contrast, but still have enough color variation room to room.

We choose paint from Sherwin Williams and used the gorgeous colors Barcelona Beige (main color throughout), Moody Blue, Silvermist and we used Wool Skein on all of the trim work throughout.

One of the best decisions made was to paint the ceiling in the Silvermist color. It turned out absolutely beautiful:

When Sharon and I first talked about doing the remodel, Sharon wanted to figure out a way to incorporate the salon's existing furniture and display pieces. Her existing pieces worked so well for each area and just needed to be revamped to blend with the new feel and colors of the salon. Of course, this was music to my ears and we decided to have fun and revamp everything that we could. Although, about two weeks ago, I was wishing we never said those words! UGH! In the end, we powered through and wow, it was so worth the undertaking! Below are before and after pictures of a sampling of just a few of the furniture revamps that we did:

I am absolutely thrilled with the final results and Sharon is as well. A remodel on this scale is no easy task and I still cannot believe that was done in one week. No one worked harder than my friend Sharon who rolled up her sleeves everyday to either sand, paint, oversee contractors, troubleshoot and make us laugh(or cry). Even though it was exhausting, it really was fun to do all of these great projects. Sharon’s friend Kathy came to Texas all the way from Ohio for the week to help as well. Kathy was a tremendous asset in so many countless ways! What a great friend to come all of the way to work her heart out for a solid week! It definitely was a large group effort to pull everything together and the results were worth all of the hard work.

A happier Sharon!

As I mentioned earlier, over the next few weeks, I will be featuring several of these furniture revamps more in depth and will be sharing more pictures of these transformations and how we did them. Please check back if you’re interested in the details of some of these furniture projects.
